High Rankings, Low Conversions

In the past I have seen high rankings and subsequent high visitor volume but very low conversion achieved by SEO judged as a success and that the low conversion was a failure of the site/business rather than the campaign. Something that would just never wash in the world of pay per click. Obviously sites are partly accountable and search marketeers cannot all be conversion rate experts, but the original strategy and implementation for targeting is entirely down to the provider.

2010: The year of the Google backlash

Google used to be the ubercool company everyone loved, wanted to work for and admired.

But those days are long gone.

I’ve seen so much animosity from internet users, web professionals and public officials towards the Big G in the last couple of months that I think 2010 will be the year Google suffers from the biggest backlash ever.

Every week, Google is in the news for the wrong reasons: privacy issues, copyright infringements, condemnations for libel, failed product launches or top executives leaving the company… you name it.

Google will have to get themselves straight very fast if they don’t want to become the new Microsoft.
